Scene/Chapter 1-4:INT. WIDOW’S HOUSE - DAYTIMEHuck is introducing characters in the story. HUCK FINN: You might remember me if you know of Tom Sawyer. But, otherwise this is my story. The good ole Miss Watson took me in to live with her since I had nowhere else to go because my pap is a drunk. I didn’t like her much because she and her sister, Widow Douglas, tried to civilize me. But, it wasn’t all bad. I actually got a little bit of an education while I was there. Miss Watson had a slave named Jim. Tom and I liked to play tricks on him mostly because he was an easy target. I really don’t care much about the material things in life, as you can tell by me giving my fortune over to Judge Thatcher without thinking twice. I tend to think it’s more about who you’re with. JIM: I know there is such a thing as the devil and witches because I’ve seen them. I am very superstitious, and I am looked up to in the slave society. TOM: I’m Huck’s best friend. I’m a selfish dreamer who lives for the thrill of adventure. I have no problem with robbing and killing you. I am the captain of Tom Sawyer’s gang. I exaggerate, and I guess you could say that’s lying, but I think it just adds to the adventure. Scene/Chapter 1-4:EXT. OUT IN THE WOODS – DAYTIMEHuck, Tom, and the gang are gathering in a cave in the woods to discuss their next “big” robbery. HUCK:I quit this gang. We haven’t robbed or killed anyone, this is just pretend.GANG:We quit too!TOM:Why?HUCK:All we did was rob a Sunday-school picnic. Tom looks hurt and angry. TOM:What are you talking about? There was diamonds , A-rabs, soldiers, elephants and treasure! You just couldn’t see them because you’re so ignorant. You should start reading more. It ain’t no use to talk to you. You don’t seem to know anything. End scene
